Week 6: Shrooms!

The quarter is over half way over, not that I am counting down the days or anything.

In Primate Evolution we've been talking about mate selection, stalking and other evolutionary behaviors in humans. Dr. Stevenson makes the lectures interesting. She cracks jokes that only a few of us laugh at. I don't know if the rest of the class isn't listening or just doesn't get it. Some of them talk while she is talking. Seriously rude! She had to ask them to be quiet four times today. I think they should join the bones in the cabinet.

In History of Anthropology we discussed Bourdieu's habitus and field theory. Every time I attend this class, I think about how awesome Fred Strange at EWU is and how much I learned about theory from his Development of Anthropological Theory class. I won't ever forget that class.

In stats, the students are learning how to do t tests and use SPSS software to run them. Me too.

I register for fall classes on Tuesday.  I think I am going to take Human Osteology. I miss being in the bone lab. I will be TA-ing again as well. I need to apply for candidacy so I can start using my thesis credits instead of classes since I have already taken all the required classes and my fall classes will be the last of my electives.

I went home for the Mother's Day weekend. On Saturday, Kelly, Cade and I went to the mountains north of my house. Last summer's wildfires burned though the area. So many trees are burned. I mostly hid in the car while they looked for mushrooms because there were so many biting flies up there. I did manage to take some pics. I am surprised you can't see a cloud of flies in them.

Our oldest son, Colton, made me breakfast on Mother's Day. I stopped eating wheat (and a lot of other foods that I am allergic to) as my New Year's resolution and hadn't had waffles since then. He found a gluten free waffle mix with sprinkles and also made scrambled eggs and bacon. Colt's girlfriend Katelyn gave me socks with skulls on them. :)
