Week three already!? During the week, it seems like time goes by so slow, but at the end of the week I always wonder where time has gone.
Last week in Osteo we went over the humerus, the radius, the ulna, the carpals and started on the os coxae. I use a naughty mnemonic to remember the wrist bones. Some lovers try positions that they can't handle. Scaphoid, lunate, triquetral, pisiform, trapezium, trapezoid, capitate and hamate. There's one for the tarsals too-The naked chicken counts 1-2-3. Talus, calcaneus, cuboid, cuneiforms 1, 2 and 3.
My quiz scores haven't been too bad, except the one after the weekend I went home. My scores are 8,10,9,6 (I didn't study for this one at all. It was on the clavicle and scapula),10 and 9.67 out of ten so far. The professor drops three of those scores at the end, so my average is still over a 9.
Last weeks lab for Intro to BioAnth was a little bit chaotic. The lab was skull comparisons for ape ape (chimp or gorilla) and humans. The instructor had to miss Monday for a family medical emergency, so the students could come in on W, Th or Fr to work on their lab write up. Most of Monday's students showed up on Friday along with Friday's students. It was quite crowded in the lab. The students were good sports about it though. Hardly anyone showed up on Thursday, so those eight students got lots of individual help.
I haven't gotten anything new done on my thesis since school started, but I will.
The apartment on campus is working out pretty well. The people upstairs are pretty noisy in the evenings, but Grace skateboards and plays dodge ball with the cat in the living room and down the hall during the day and I don't shush her.
I am still biking to my classes/lab every day. Someday I might not show up all noodle-legged and sweaty. I tried wearing my raincoat when it rained, but it's too hot. I just ride faster and try to miss the raindrops.
I thought I would show you the laundry app Western uses. We can look online to see if there is a washer or dryer available and keep track of how long until our laundry is done. The laundry building is just out our back door, so we put a load in and go back to the apartment. The laundry room is locked so only residents can get in.
It rained pretty hard on Saturday. Our apartment became a poolside apartment for a little while. Of course I was doing laundry so I had to carry clean, dry clothes back in a downpour.
This is the community center building. The laundry room is in the basement.
My skelly friend is still nameless. He has acquired a few friends.
My lovely dollar store door decoration that is hanging on the wall in my bedroom. They amuse me.
Kelly showed up on Saturday afternoon. He can't do much at home, so he thought he might as well just hang out here with me until Wednesday when the boys have a race.
