Week 4: Catch-up

Last week was a whirlwind of homework, a quick trip home for the weekend and now I'm playing catch-up.

I took some photos of what my walk to my office looks like. It's still mostly dark out, but it's getting lighter each day.

The not so glorious door to my cohort's office.

4 desks crammed into one office, but it's not too bad. I am there so early that I have it to myself for half the day.
There's all sorts of neat artifacts left by the previous occupants.

 Like bumper stickers...

And Raven's sky village on the ceiling.

This is my desk circa 1960s I think.

My keys now double as a weapon. I added an office key, 2 lab keys and the keycard to get in the building. I can swing them and knock someone out.

Last week's BioAnth lab was comparing the upper limbs, hands, feet and scapulae of apes and humans. The students are supposed to think about function/ecology as they make their comparisons as well as learn the bones/landmarks.

The undergrad TA and Dr. Stevenson drew/labeled the week's bones on the board. We found out after this lab that if you put everything on the board, the students don't ask questions, so we won't do that again.

The students don't have to memorize as many bones as I did when I took Physical Anth in my undergrad. This is only a 200 level class. Mine was a 400 level. It makes me miss Dr. Keller.

My other classes are fine. Lots of reading for MedAnth. I am making progress on my Thesis for Research Methods and the Research Mentorship class.

In my spare time, I went home to help with the Little Guy's Wrestling Tournament.

Here's Jake and Julie working on bracketing. There were only 362 wrestlers this year, which is about 100 less than usual. The flyer didn't get out soon enough.

6 computers & 5 printers. Lots of data entry. It went well and I am glad it's over.

The roads were great when I came back on Sunday. It was even clear in the pass. It didn't start raining until I was almost back in Bellingham.

Now, I am playing catch-up trying to get everything done that I would have last weekend. I just finished grading lab write-ups. If only I could get caught up on sleep.
